WHY ADVANCED TRAINING?
Initial Module Training provided you with the foundations of teaching. Now, transform your state of mind when you teach with Advanced Training.
This new course has been designed to help you find your strengths as an Instructor and discover a whole range of ideas to grow your teaching. You will learn how to fill your classes and have longevity in teaching as the kind of Instructor you want to be. You will learn how to become a Group Fitness leader, how to be grounded in the essence of your programme, and how to enhance the workout experience for your participants.
Advanced Training is a two-day workshop. Excitingly, the course will also be available as a six-week online training programme in the UK and US from January. Instructors in other countries will have access to this course later in the year.
Whether you’ve been teaching for six months or 25 years, Advanced Training is the key to breaking through to your next stage in Instructor excellence. You will not only improve your teaching, but also gain skills that will positively impact your life outside of fitness.

What is Advanced Training?
This course has been designed to help you find your strengths as an Instructor and discover a whole new range of ideas to grow your teaching. You will learn how to fill your classes and have longevity in teaching as the kind of Instructor you want to be. You will learn how to become a group fitness leader that is grounded in the essence of your program, and how to enhance the workout experience for your participants.
How is it different to AIM 1 and AIM 2?
The new Advanced Training is approximately 80% new content with a strong focus on leadership and development. There is a greater focus on bringing your natural talents to the forefront – allowing you to teach from a place that is completely authentic to you. You are encouraged to examine your ‘why’, digging deep into exactly why you teach group fitness.
We know that technique and coaching are the foundations of being a great instructor. These elements are still explored in Advanced Training, you will receive technique videos ahead of the training that you will have to refer to in your own time. However the course is focused on:
- Uncover your powers of leadership for all aspects of your life
- Define your version of success as an instructor
- Learn how to strengthen your connection with participants, show enjoyment and enhance the experience you create for them
- Develop your own style of performance within the essence of the program
- Learn how to fill classes and ensure longevity in teaching
- Blending the dimensions, knowing when to blend the 3 layers of coaching relevant for the class members
Why are these changes being introduced?
We want to support our instructors to have longevity in their teaching and fill their classes and so with the natural evolution of our programs and coaching, the Les Mills Education team felt that there was a need to update, enhance and refine our current training. We also want to give our instructors some relevant transferrable skills that can be applied in many aspects of their life. *With global advances in technology there may be an option to offer online training in our region at some stage.
What if I have already done AIM 1?
Advanced Training has new and evolved content (80%) and is therefore worthwhile for all Instructors to attend. AIM 1 enhanced your coaching and refined your technique. Instructors will now receive technique videos to work with and refer to in their own time. The emphasis of the new Advanced Training will be to add a whole new dimension to your teaching. Focusing on leadership, self-development plus finding your own authentic way to dial up your connection and performance and become the Instructor you want to be.
What if I have already done AIM 1 and 2?
If you’ve already attended AIM1 or AIM2 and wondering what might be in Advanced Training for you, Kylie Gates says that approximately 80% of the Training is new. “Advanced Training is a totally different experience from doing AIM1 and AIM2. There is a new focus on leadership which will absolutely change your state of mind when you teach, as well as the experience you create for your participants – and the enjoyment you receive from teaching.”
If I have already done AIM 1 and AIM 2 will my Advanced Instructor status change?
No, you will keep your Advanced Instructor status.
Will I have an additional title if I do Advanced Training on top of Aim 1 and 2?
No, but you will benefit from the additional professional and personal development.

No, the certification for the program in which you are presenting will be at the Advanced status once you complete the course. Your status as an Instructor will also be Advanced but your other certifications will stay at their current stage.
Can I do Advanced Training in more than one programme?
Yes, we encourage you to undertake Advanced Training in your different programs.
What is the cost of the Advanced Training?
AED840 (including VAT)
What if I am an Elite Instructor?
You will remain an Elite Instructor in that program.
Can I get Elite status from the new Advanced Training?
The new Advanced Training will not have Elite assessments linked to the course. This is because the content focuses on you as an individual and giving you the tools to develop over time to become the best instructor you can. If you have achieved Elite status previously you will remain Elite in that program. If you have completed AIM2 and still wish to submit for your Elite status you have until the end of September 2019 to submit for Elite status.
How long after my Initial Module Training should I book onto Advanced Training?
