Tell us about your fitness career so far
I’ve always enjoyed sport. I competed in football, tennis and golf to a decent standard throughout my youth. I got a job in a gym to fund my degree and fell in love with all things fitness. I immediately booked myself onto a course that would enable me to become a fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer. I became a member of a gym which offered Les Mills. This is where I discovered Les Mills and it became my goal to work for this amazing company! During my career, I have been a Personal Trainer for gym chains and independently. I have managed multiple studios and gyms. Currently I have several roles with Les Mills including Regional Training Coordinator for Ireland and Northern Ireland, BODYATTACK™ BODYPUMP™ and CXWORX™ Trainer and Presenter. One of my favourite roles is working alongside Claire Place (Regional Training Coordinator for the North West) as a Programme Specialist for BODYATTACK. I’ve now been in the fitness Industry for 12 years.
If you weren’t a fitness Instructor, you would be….
A psychologist.
Fun Fact
I’ve a degree in Psychology and Anthropology. I have had a handicap of 5 in golf, but don’t get to play much currently as my spare time is spent with my family.
What’s your ideal day off?
A trip to the Dublin Mountains for a hike around Glendalough, or a walk around the coast of Howth on Dublin’s north side with my family. Then I’d follow that with lunch in some old bar with a pint of Guinness (for strength obviously).
What made you become a Les Mills instructor?
I went to a BODYPUMP class at my local gym and thought the Instructor was a rock star. I left feeling so motivated and I wanted to be able to do that for other people.
What’s the highlight of your career?
That’s easy! Being given the opportunity to present on BODYATTACK 100! It was so inspiring to be with so many incredible Trainers for the week and get to celebrate this release with Instructors from UK who I had trained or got to know through Quarterly Workshops. This release really celebrates every single one of us Instructors and the positive impact we have every day on our participants.
