Does your phone go everywhere – like, everywhere – with you? A random sample of 27 mobile phones, briefly wrenched from the hands of secondary school students, was part of a detailed investigation of their resident bacteria.
The results were not encouraging.
All phones contained high levels of bacteria – particularly faecal bacteria, including potential disease-causing microbes such as Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus and Neisseria flavescens. Maybe wash your hands thoroughly before using your phone – and simply avoid taking it into the littlest room.
Until then, think twice about sharing phones!
