New initiatives equip fitness leaders for the future

Les Mills has changed the group fitness Instructor game again.

With a new Advanced Training program designed to turn great Instructors into great leaders, and a new playlist function allowing them to truly personalize workouts for an even better member experience, Les Mills is again showing the way when it comes to group fitness innovation and excellence.

For decades Les Mills has been growing a tribe of highly trained and exceptionally skilled Instructors – fitness professionals who have mastered the art of fusing fitness science, motivation and music. This global tribe is 130,000 strong.

Now, Les Mills is raising the bar and helping foster a new caliber of industry talent. The creation of an Advanced Training program will help certified Les Mills Instructors discover and enhance their own strengths, harness their true leadership potential, and extend the longevity of their teaching careers.

Kylie Gates, Les Mills Creative Director, says the training will help Instructors shape careers as fitness leaders. “It provides Instructors with the tools they need to keep growing as an Instructor, which ultimately means they keep enhancing the experience for participants. And when Instructors provide amazing experiences for participants, that’s when they pack out classes.” She adds that packed classes are the secret to long-term member retention.

Also helping pack those classes is a great new playlist feature now available to all Les Mills Instructors through the LES MILLS™ Releases App. The new “Mix and Match Playlists” feature means Instructors can now effortlessly create their own personalized class from the music in their LES MILLS Releases within the App, to shape workouts that best suit member preferences and demographics.

With music at the heart of every LES MILLS program, the functionality to mix and match favorite tracks further enhances the Releases App, and adds value to clubs by giving Les Mills Instructors another edge in the group fitness studio.

Instructors have the best of both worlds, says Gates. “They get quality, science-backed programming and amazing music. But they can easily mix and match the tracks to create workouts to suit their mood – or most importantly what they know participants will love.” It’s a win-win – more empowered instructors and more engaged members, she says.
