Les Mills unveils next generation LES MILLS SMARTSTEP™ to transform studio experience

Global fitness leader Les Mills has announced the global rollout of its all-new LES MILLS SMARTSTEP™.

Launching worldwide on 1 September 2025, the redesigned SMARTSTEP combines innovative engineering, sleek styling, and sustainable materials to deliver a step that’s lighter, stronger, and more versatile – offering huge benefits for both clubs and members.

Built for the demands of busy group training studios, the new SMARTSTEP features integrated risers with click-to-rise technology, allowing for quick and seamless height adjustments without the need for extra parts. Clubs can set up studios faster, save space, and provide members with a smoother workout experience, thanks to seamless and intuitive adjustments.

Key innovations include:

  • All-in-one design with integrated risers that click up or down for three height settings (150mm, 200mm, 250mm) and incline/decline use
  • Slim, stackable profile that saves 31% more storage space compared to the previous generation and takes up less room on the studio floor to enhance class capacity
  • Lightweight, yet durable high-performance materials with a 3-year warranty and 140kg load rating
  • Enhanced performance with greater platform flex for more muscle activation and less joint impact
  • Sustainable build using 10% recycled plastic and 15% less plastic overall than the original SMARTSTEP

“We’ve reimagined the SMARTSTEP from the ground up,” says Les Mills Executive Director Phillip Mills. “From storage efficiency to member performance, every detail has been designed to help clubs deliver safe, effective, and more enjoyable workouts – while future-proofing their studio space.

“Increased performance is key to creating positive workout experiences that keep members coming back for more. With the right equipment, clubs build stronger communities, deeper member bonds, and higher retention.”

During the comprehensive design and testing process, a team of engineers, physiotherapists, and sports professionals came together to ensure every aspect was considered. The result is a smart piece of equipment, made with high-performance materials, designed to help users increase muscle activity, improve propulsive power and feel less impact.

The new version marks the first significant upgrade to the iconic SMARTSTEP in over a decade. Its added portability, durability, and space-saving design mean it’s as effective on the gym floor as it is in the studio. New optional storage racks – available in single- or double-sided versions with wheels – make organization and movement effortless.

The new LES MILLS SMARTSTEP is available to order from 1 September 2025.
